Sew a Cute Holiday Cat Pillow

This adorable holiday cat pattern from Craft and Fabric Links makes a pillow in the shape of a snuggly sleeping cat. Templates for the pieces are provided in PDF format.

Make Cat Christmas Ornaments

Squidoo’s popular how-to for making cat ornaments provides directions for building upon standard Christmas tree baubles using glitter, googly eyes, and other craft supplies. The page also features a gallery of cat ornaments for inspiration.

Jennifer Claerr provides directions for making unique polymer clay cat ornaments that can be baked in a regular oven to harden and then painted. Other than clay, paint, varnish, and a craft blade, required supplies are standard household items, such as wax paper, rolling pin, white paper, and pencil.

Create Cat Christmas Cards

Claudine Casault provides directions for creating an elaborate 3-dimensional cat Christmas card. This craft, which is suitable for children aged 4 and up, is somewhat supply-intensive, requiring white cardstock, red velvet fabric, red ribbon, small bells, pink paper, double-sided tape, craft glue, fishing line, and some sort of white fluffy material.

It’s also quite easy to make Christmas cards from scratch using a colour printer and materials and images of your choice. Free cat clip-art and photos can be found at the following sites:

Images can be printed directly onto white cardstock or onto white glossy paper and then cut out and glued to cardstock of a different colour to create cards with a border.

Sew a Christmas Cat Quilt or Wall Hanging

Janet Wickel provides this basic pattern for a Christmas patchwork quilt block with a cat. This pattern can be customized by using various fabrics (including those that resemble fur for a 3-dimensional effect); embroidering or appliqueing whiskers and eyes onto the cat; or dressing it up with bows, bells, and other adornments.
